I was practicing “close listening” the other morning and heard something quite profound, in terms of how perception is framed, in that we position ourselves and our attitudes, viewpoints, responses and interactions based upon these perceptions. In this particular instance I heard: ”Transformed people, transform people.” Once I absorbed this fully, I realized that I had previously clung to the realization that “hurt people, hurt people” and thought that this revelation represented an awareness that was somehow liberating and that, even further, it allowed me to reach a place of forgiveness sooner than later. However, the problem remained that it was “other-focused” and thus did not necessarily present an opportunity for personal growth. With the recent moniker, I had an epiphany: We can only changes ourselves. What is more liberating than that? Let us continue to expand our awareness as we strive to evolve and become lighter along our way.
